Dear Colleagues and Friends:
There were a number of thoughts I wanted to express at yesterday's summit. Unfortunately, I had to leave before I could seek recognition, so I am sending you those comments in this email. I hope you will take them in the spirit they are intended, which is with the utmost respect and genuine desire to do what is best for both schools systems and our community.
Our Recommendations for the August Election
You may already know for whom you will vote in the upcoming election. However, over the years many friends and associates call, email or stop Mary Ann and me and ask for our recommendations. Because of the large ballot and some lesser known positions that appear on the ballot, we wanted to let you know our thoughts.
Regardless of whether you agree with our recommendations or not, we hope you will cast your vote. Early voting begins this Friday.

Finding Out Who Your Real Friends Are
Before ever running for the County Commission, I began a career as a political consultant and managed campaigns for more than 15 years. Someone in my early days as an operative (I can't remember who) said, "In campaigns you always find out who your real friends are." That may be one of the truest statements anyone has ever told me. In more than sixty campaigns, I've watched candidates crushed by the betrayal of a long-time friend and deeply touched by the unexpected sacrifices of others. This campaign was no different.
